Searching

A poem.

I seek no star that holds each shade of light,
Nor galaxies whose patterns all align.
I only wish to see what came too late,
And feel the wonders other stars define.

I stand where hope and disillusion meet,
A prisoner of heart, a captive mind.
We each possess a star that burns so bright,
Yet what it feels like, I have yet to find.

I feel a stranger underneath this sky,
Where countless souls awaken to the day.
I breathe the air, yet cannot tell you why
The world beneath my feet feels far away.

And still, our home is bathed in distant light,
An ocean lost in interstellar dust.
A fleeting spark against eternal night,
A universe of wonder, hope, and trust.

I linger where my heart begins to dream,
And glimpse the things I’ve longed so much to see.
I ask no star to shine without a blink,
I search the lights for something to believe.
