I’ve learned to live with every wrong,
With disappointments held too long.
And through the years, I came to write
A thousand thoughts beneath the night.
My loveliest moments slipped away,
The possible lasted but a day.
My darkest hours became routine,
My hardest days, a familiar scene.
Can you imagine what I’d say,
When everything seemed to fade away?
But I’ve accepted what I’ve been through,
And chance, I think, may lead me back to you.
Perhaps tomorrow holds a brighter view,
A happier present, a day with you.
The day you finally came my way,
The day I had no words to say.
For just a moment, life seemed kind,
And happiness was mine to find.
You laughed at me, I laughed at you,
And suddenly the world felt new.
The day we’d waited for was here,
In little moments, warm and clear.
Yet something in me fears tomorrow,
That happiness may turn to sorrow.
Still, I believe that days like this can stay,
That I may feel this joy another day.
And when the morning comes anew,
I may awake beneath a different view.
But even if that star is gone,
Your heart will keep me warm till dawn.
These moments soon will drift away,
Like verses written yesterday.
Small fragments of a life to come,
Of distant days not yet begun.
A future waiting to unfold,
A thousand stories yet untold.
And somewhere in the days ahead,
A life I’ve dreamed of, but not lived yet.
